About the Heart
The Heart of Texas, a USRowing Registered Regatta and Nationally Recognized Regatta, is held annually in early March, making it one of the first sprint regattas of the Spring. Austin Rowing Club has been host to the Heart of Texas Regatta since 1983 when the race was primarily for visiting college crews. The event has grown to include Masters, Open and Junior events and a seven lane, fully buoyed 1000 meter course and state-of-the-art starting platform. Over 800 entries competed at the 2013 Regatta for a total of over 1,400 competitors.
Venue parking: limited parking is available within one block of 1600 Nash Hernandez Senior Road, along the south side of Nash Hernandez Sr. and where available on Chicon and Comal. All visitors must honor traffic cones, barriers and No Parking signs or risk ticketing or towing.
Austin Rowing Club recommends competitors and fans stay at the Holiday Inn Lady Bird Lake. This Holiday Inn is a short walk to the race course. Please contact Bridgette Ards at 1-512-634-1274 for team sales.
The Heart of Texas Points trophy winner is calculated according to section 5.307 of the Rules of Rowing. Each boat that wins a final earns points for its club. Points differ according to boat class. Points awarded to the club of other boats in the final depend on placement, and the number of total boats in the final. Composite Crews are NOT eligible for points.
Austin Rowing Club's junior team will host a concession stand at the regatta, selling snacks and beverages.
