Row Free Programs

Austin Rowing Club aims to keep rowing accessible to all members of the Austin community.
ARC offers several NO-COST rowing programs to encourage participation in rowing.

National Learn to Row Day:
This USRowing-sponsored national event takes place each year, the first Saturday in June. Participants will go out on the water in eight-man rowing shells with coaches and volunteers from ARC. You will spend approximately 1 hour on the water. ARC taught over 250 people to row in just one day! For more information on the 2010 event, please CLICK HERE.

Meet-Ups:
ARC has introduced hundreds of new rowers to the sport for free "meet up" days. Meet-Up.com is a national website that allows users to schedule meet ups to do fun, active things in their city with like-minded participants. ARC hosts Meet-Up days throughout the year. To participate, or to see when our next Meet-Up is, please register for the Austin Rowing Meet-Up group.

Sierra Club Outings:
ARC frequently partners with Sierra Club for lake clean-up efforts, and now offers rowing opprtunities as well. Austin Sierra Club Members are introduced to the sport in eight-man rowing shells, rowing around Lady Bird Lake with volunteer coaches from Austin Rowing Club. Stay tuned for postings on the next Sierra Club outing.

Team Survivor Rowing Program: Capital of Texas Team Survivor (CTTS) inspires women mentally and physically to regain normal lives during and after cancer treatment. The CTTS & ARC Rowing Program is free and open to female cancer survivors from all walks of life. This program meets once per week on the water, and once per week on the rowing machines at Flywheel Fitness.

KIPP Austin Rowing Scholarships: Austin Rowing Club has partnered with America Rows Austin, a diversity task force, to offer rowing scholarships to students from KIPP Academy Austin. Students from KIPP participate in the ARC Junior Program at NO-COST.

RowFree for Austin Non-Profits:
RowFree is a program pioneered by ARC's Membership Director, Jack Graham. RowFree allows staff members from Austin area non-profits to try rowing at ARC with a free 2-hour class. This program began in 2009 and has seen considerable success in its first year. To schedule a rowing lesson for your staff members, office, or employees, please contact Jack at membership@austinrowing.org Or follow RowFree on Twitter!
