Congratulations to Sara Hyten who was awarded honorable mention on the scholastic honor roll.  US Rowing, national governing body of rowing,  holds a national competition each year to recognize seniors who have excelled in both academics and rowing.  Applicants must demonstrate academic achievement through class rank, SAT scores, and GPA.  They must also have rowed at least one year and have competed at regional level or higher.

Hyten is a senior at Westlake High School and in her third year rowing with the Austin Rowing Club.  Sara won the 2009 Central Regional Championships in the varsity double and varsity four.  She finished 8th at the Youth National Championships in June 2009.  At Club Nationals July 2009 she finished 5th in the varsity double and 6th in the varsity quad.  The club is proud of Sara's academic and rowing accomplishments
