Beginning Sculling Clinic (Level 1 & 2) Coaches: Kourt de Haas, Charles Barksdale
The beginning sculling clinic is for recent ITR graduates through intermediate (ARC levels 1-2) scullers looking to improve their technique in narrower hulls. This is also an excellent time to get "checked out" by a coach to row a single on your own.
The clinic is offered every Saturday and Sunday at 8:00 AM. Reservations are not required.
A typical outing includes 6 - 10 rowers in Maas Aeros and a few Maas Singles. Each boat does several laps on the stretch of Lady Bird Lake right in front of the boathouse, while the coach gives each rower some individual attention.
To attend, be at the boathouse, ready to row, at 8:00 AM on Saturday or Sunday.
Small Boat Sunday (Level 3 & 4) Coach: Charles Barksdale
Small Boat Sunday is offered every Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m. It is open to all members of the club, but is geared primarily to intermediate and advanced scullers (ARC levels 3-4). Participants should be checked out to row Maas singles or racing singles and doubles.
The typical turnout for this clinic includes about a dozen singles or doubles. The usual workout is a steady state row down to Redbud Island, incorporating some technical drills. On the way back, we do some medium intensity intervals as a group.
To attend, be at the boathouse, ready to row, at 9:00 AM on Sundays. Reservations are not required.
Private Lessons Coach: ARC Coaching Staff
Private lessons are available at a cost of $50 per hour per person. Lessons are available for both members and non members. Private lessons are an alternative way to learn if you are unable to attend our Intro to Rowing classes. They are also a great way to get detailed attention to your technique if you are an intermediate or advanced sculler.
Scheduling of private lessons is flexible in order to accommodate the requirements of the student
